Prayer has always been an integral part of our nation’s history. The Continental Congress in 1775, for example, called for a day of prayer as they began to lay the foundation for what would become the United States of America. Through the years, many other Presidents have encouraged the people of the United States to turn to prayer during troubled times. President Truman, in 1952, went as far as to establish a National Day of Prayer. Since then, every President in office has signed a declaration on the first Thursday of May designating it a day of prayer. Mayor Williams has continued this wonderful tradition in Arlington by establishing the Annual Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast. Curnutt & Hafer is proud to have sponsored this event every year since its inception. For us, as always, today is a great day to be in Arlington.
If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My Face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. – 2 Chronicles 7:14
